From Mount Nebo, God showed Moses the Promised Land that he would not enter due to his disobedience at Meribah (Deuteronomy 34:1-6). Moses died here at age 120, and God Himself buried him in an unknown location.

Mount Nebo rises 2,680 feet above sea level and offers panoramic views of the Holy Land, including the Jordan River Valley, Jericho, and on clear days, Jerusalem. A Byzantine church and monastery were built here in the 4th century to commemorate Moses.
