The Great Commission and World Missions

World missions are the beating heart of all Scripture. The Great Commission of Jesus sends His disciples to every nation: "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you" (Matthew 28:19-20). Revelation unveils its glorious culmination: "a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues" (Revelation 7:9). God desires that His glory fill the whole earth. Yet mission did not begin in Matthew 28. As early as Genesis 12:3, God promised Abraham: "In you all the families of the earth will be blessed." This purpose runs through the entire Bible and culminates in Revelation 5:9, where the Lamb is praised because He has "purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation." The Great Commission is the urgent call to take part in this eternal redemptive plan. Every believer is invited to share in this mission. Romans 10:14-15 asks: "How will they hear without a preacher? And how will they preach unless they are sent?" One can participate by going as a missionary, by sending others through prayer and resources, by supporting gospel workers, by interceding for unreached peoples, and by witnessing in one's own setting. The harvest is plentiful, and the Master is calling workers into His field.
