Sharing Your Faith with Others

Sharing your faith is the calling of every believer, not a mission reserved for pastors or evangelists. 1 Peter 3:15 puts it this way: "Always be prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you, yet do it with gentleness and respect." Every child of God carries this joyful responsibility. Shared faith flows naturally from a transformed life: when a person has found a true treasure, they cannot keep it to themselves. Mark 5:19 shows Jesus sending away the man he has just delivered with these words: "Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you." The most powerful witness is often the simple, sincere account of a changed life. Sharing your faith does not require having an answer for everything; it is enough to tell your story, to say how you met Christ and what he transformed. No one can refute a personal experience with the living God. The key Peter gives is essential: "with gentleness and respect." It means listening before speaking, asking sincere questions, and trusting the Holy Spirit, who alone convinces hearts. The fear of witnessing is natural, but it must not stop us. The early disciples prayed in Acts 4:29: "Grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness." The same Spirit who filled them with courage is offered to every believer today.
