Intercessors on the Spiritual Battlefield

Prayer warriors are believers who understand that the Christian struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and spiritual powers. Ephesians 6:12 makes this clear: "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world." Armed with prayer, fasting, and the Word of God, these intercessors pray fervently for churches, nations, families, and lost souls. James 5:16 declares that "the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." These believers are not spiritual superheroes, but humble men and women who trust in the power of God rather than in their own strength. Ephesians 6:18 sums up their calling: "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints." Daniel offers a model of constancy: three times a day he knelt to pray to his God, even when a royal decree forbade it (Daniel 6:10). His unwavering discipline shows that the prayer warrior fights not in his own might but in steadfast dependence upon the Lord. Becoming a prayer warrior requires no special talent and no exceptional gifting, only a willing and surrendered disposition of the heart. Every believer can intercede, for the door of prayer stands open to all who come in faith. When we kneel, we enter the throne room of God, and there, by His grace, impossible things become possible.
