Bible Verses About Jehovah-Jireh, the God Who Provides

"Jehovah-Jireh" means "the LORD will provide," the name Abraham gave to the place where God provided a ram in place of Isaac. Genesis 22:14 records: "And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen." This name reveals a God who sees the need of his children and provides for it at the appointed time. On Mount Moriah, as Abraham prepared to offer his son in obedience, God stayed his hand and himself supplied the sacrifice. This event strikingly foreshadows the work of the cross, where God provided the perfect Lamb for the salvation of the world. Scripture assures us that this same God remains the faithful provider of his people: "But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19). To trust Jehovah-Jireh is to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, knowing that "all these things shall be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). Divine provision often comes at the last moment, where our own resources are exhausted, so that all the glory belongs to God alone. These verses strengthen confidence in the God who provides, who cares for his own in every circumstance and who has never forsaken those who trust in him. The same Lord who saw Abraham's need upon the mountain still sees ours today, and he remains faithful to supply grace, strength, and every good thing in his perfect timing.
