The Love of Christ

The love of Christ is the very heart of the gospel: a love that gave itself even unto death, and from which nothing can separate us. Jesus Himself revealed its supreme measure when He declared, "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends" (John 15:13). This love does not content itself with words; it is proven by the sacrifice of the cross, where the Lord bore our sins to reconcile us to God. The apostle Paul affirms with full assurance that neither death, nor life, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us "from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:38-39). This love surpasses all knowledge; it is wide and long and high and deep beyond what the human mind can conceive. Scripture also calls us to abide in this love: "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love" (John 15:9). To receive the love of Christ transforms the heart and moves us to live no longer for ourselves but for Him who died and rose again for us, for "Christ's love compels us" (2 Corinthians 5:14). These verses exalt the incomparable love of the Savior and invite every believer to surrender to it with gratitude and to pour it out upon those around them.
