Absolute Truth in the Bible

In a world of shifting opinions and relative morals, the Bible declares with confidence that absolute truth exists, rooted not in human fashions but in the unchanging character of God Himself. Truth is not a human invention that we shape according to our preferences; it is a reality we discover, revealed by the One who cannot lie and who remains the same yesterday, today, and forever. Jesus places truth at the very center of His identity when He declares in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." Truth, then, is not merely a set of correct propositions but a Person in whom we are called to place our trust. In His high priestly prayer, Jesus prays to the Father, saying, "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth" (John 17:17). The Word of God thus becomes the stable foundation on which to build all of life. The Holy Spirit leads the believer "into all truth" (John 16:13), confirming that truth is never left to private opinion but is given by God. This foundation reflects His faithful character, for the LORD proclaims Himself "longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth" (Exodus 34:6). These verses call us to anchor life upon revealed truth, which does not change with cultures or eras. Against the shifting sand of momentary ideas, the truth of God offers a firm rock on which to think, discern, hope, and live with assurance.
