Waiting on the Lord is one of the most repeated and tender themes of Scripture, describing the believer's posture of patient, hopeful trust as we look to God to act, deliver, and fulfill His promises in His perfect time. Far from passive idleness, biblical waiting is active confidence, a quiet strength of soul that refuses to run ahead of God. Psalm 27:14 captures its heart: 'Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.' The very command to wait is paired with the promise of strengthened courage. The Psalms teach us to wait with stillness and patience rather than anxious striving. Psalm 37:7 urges, 'Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him,' while Psalm 40:1 testifies, 'I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.'
